みなさん、こんにちは！グローバル観光学科2年次生の上田佳歩です。最近寒くなって来ましたが、皆さんいかがお過ごしでしょうか？風邪を引かないようにしっかり体調管理をしてくださいね！
今回は私の出身地・滋賀県にある永源寺の紅葉について紹介いたします。まず、永源寺とは滋賀県東近江市永源寺高野町にある寺院で、臨済宗永源寺派の大本山です。この永源寺は1361年、南北朝時代に寂室禅師によって開かれ長い歴史を持っています。また、日本遺産にも登録されています。こちらのお寺は紅葉スポットとして非常に有名であり、毎年11月になると観光客でいっぱいになります。今回はちょうど紅葉のシーズンということで観光を兼ねて参詣してきました。
山門の麓には屋台が並んでおり、焼栗や特産の永源寺蒟蒻が売っていました。参道沿いに足を踏み入れると美しく色づいた紅葉の木が連なり、その景色にとても感動しました。また、山門を越え中に入ると手に届くような高さにたくさんあり、間近で見るあたり一面の紅葉は圧巻でした。永源寺の紅葉は11月上旬〜下旬が見頃で、今年は１１月１３日から２８日までは17時からライトアップが行われています。私はお昼に訪れたので、ライトアップは見られませんでしたがお昼でも非常に美しかったです。みなさんも、お近くにお越しの際は是非お立ち寄りください！

Today, I would like to introduce about autumn leaves at Eigenji. Eigenji is a temple located in Higashi-Omi City, Shiga Prefecture and it was established in 1361 under the order of Jakushitu Genko. It is the head temple of the Eigen-ji school of Rinzai Zen Buddhism. This temple has a long history and it is registered as a national heritage site. It is also famous for autumn leaves so many tourists visit every November. This time I was excited to visit to see the autumn leaves.
There were some food stalls lined up at the foot of the Sanmon main temple gate, selling roasted chestnuts and Eigenji konnyaku jelly, which is a local specialty.
As I stepped along the approach, I was very impressed by the beautifully colored autumn leaves on the trees. Additionally, when I went past the gate and entered the temple grounds, I saw many of them were within arm’s reach and seeing them up close and personal was quite moving.
The best time to see the autumn leaves at Eigenji Temple is from early to late November, and this year the temple is lit up from 5pm from November 13th to 28th. I visited at noon, so I didn’t see the light-up, but it was very beautiful even in the daytime.
