こんにちは、グローバル観光学科2年次生の島岡七海と関戸友香です。今回は古都京都の文化財のひとつとして世界遺産に登録されている下鴨神社について紹介します。
下鴨神社は京阪出町柳駅から徒歩約15分のところにあります。京阪出町柳町駅までは、京都外大からバスで約30分です。
下鴨神社という名前は通称名であり、正式名称は賀茂御祖神社(かもみおやじんじゃ)です。鴨川の下流に位置していることから下鴨神社と親しまれています。下鴨神社はとても広く、沢山の観光スポットがあります。今回は3つの場所に焦点を当てて、ご紹介します。
１つ目は本殿です。入り口から荘厳な門が建ち、自然と合った風景がとても印象的です。中に入ると東本殿、西本殿、言社(ことしゃ)と呼ばれる干支にまつわる神社などがあります。言社では干支それぞれの小さなお社があるので自分の干支の前で写真を撮ってみてはいかがでしょうか。
2つ目は御手洗(みたらし)社です。お祓いができるお社であり、近くには御手洗（みたらし）川という名前の川が流れています。この川で紙を濡らして占う、水みくじというおみくじがあるので、まだやったことがない人はぜひ体験してみてください。
最後は河合神社です。美人になりたい人に必見の神社です。絵馬が手鏡の形をしており、自分のメイク用品で顔を描き、裏には自分の願いを書きます。外見だけでなく、内面も美しくなってもらうという意味の絵馬だそうです。
他にも下鴨神社の楼門の手前には、とても静かで癒される木のトンネルのような糺（ただす）の森や、縁結びのご利益がある相生社(あいおいのやしろ)などがあります。ちなみに、私達が訪れた5月12日には、御蔭祭(みかげまつり)が行われていました。神霊を迎えるお祭りです。下鴨神社はこのような行事も多々あるので、行く時にホームページなどでチェックしていくとよいですね。
Hello, everyone！ We are Nanami Shimaoka and Tomoka Sekido, second-year students at the Department of Global Tourism Studies. We are going to show you Shimogamo Shrine that is designated as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the ancient city of Kyoto.
Shimogamo Shrine is located near Demachiyanagi Station of the Keihan Line, and it takes about 15 minutes on foot from the station. To get to Demachiyanagi Station ｆfrom Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, it takes about 30 minutes by bus.
The name Shimogamo Shrine is a kind of nick name. A formal name is Kamomioya Shrine. The shrine is located in the downstream ("Shimo" in Japanese) of Kamo River, and people call it Shimogamo Shrine. The place is huge, and there are many tourist spots to see. Today, we will focus on the three spots that we recommend you visit.
The first spot is a main sanctuary. The entrance is so cool, and its view with beautiful nature is so impressive. It includes three main halls such as Higashi Honden which is a main shrine in the east, Nishi Honden which is a main shrine in the west,and Koto Shrine that is related to zodiac cycle. Koto Shrine is divided into seven smaller sub-shrines that address specific Kanji signs of the Chinese Zodiac. How about taking pictures in front of your zodiac cycle?
The second spot is Mitarashi Shrine. We can remove evil spirits here. Near this shrine, there is a river named Mitarashi River. You can try a unique type of fortune slips called "Mizu-Mikuji." By soaking the slips in the water of Mitarashi River,
you can see your fortune letters.
The last spot is Kawai Shrine. If you want to be more beautiful, you should visit this shrine. At this place, the shape of "Ema" (small wooden votive plaques) is a hand mirror. You can draw the board using your cosmetics, and you write your wishes on the opposite side. The "Ema" plaque here shows the wishes to be more beautiful inside out.
Besides, on the way to the main gate of Shimogamo Shrine, you could also visit Tadasu no Mori, which feels like a quiet tunnel of trees. There is also Aioinoyashiro Shrine that is dedicated to the god of matchmaking.
By the way, when we went to Shimogamo Shrine on May 12, Mikage festival was going on. Shimogamo Shrine has a lot of other festivals and events, so we recommend you check information before your visit.

夏のような暑さが続いていますが、そろそろ梅雨入りの時期ですね。
今回、私は野﨑先生について紹介していきたいと思います。

こんにちは！国際貢献学部グローバル観光学科１年次生の石橋尚子と下川紗良です。６月１日～２日に１泊２日でグローバル観光学科の１年次生は福井県のあわら温泉に研修へ行ってきましたので、レポートします。
１日目は到着後、各班に別れて現地調査を行いました。普段見ることができないような旅館の内側を見学し、観光案内所では近年の外国人観光客の増加について聞く等、班ごとに様々な場所でお話を伺いました。旅館の周りは一面、田んぼが広がっており、夕日が差す風景はとても幻想的でした。夕食後は４月に行った伏見稲荷大社でのフィールドワークについて、各班でまとめたものをあわら市長の前で発表しました。どの班も、ユニークなクイズや面白い動画を取り入れるなど、工夫をこらしていました。発表後は温泉に入ったり、街中を散策したりして、各自楽しい時間を過ごしました。
2日目は朝から東尋坊へ行きました。東尋坊は福井県の有名な観光地で、国の天然記念物になっている崖です。押し寄せる波は迫力がありました。そして、次に芝政ワールドへ移動して、昼食のバーベキューとアトラクションを楽しみました。芝政ワールドは芝生を育てて販売している会社が運営する日本海に面したテーマパークです。大きなプールがあり、夏になると多くの子供連れの家族が訪れるそうです。昼食のバーベキュー後は、あわら市観光協会の会長が来て下さり、前日の現地調査から分かった問題点や良かった点を発表しました。課題も多く残りましたが、２日間無事に学外研修を終えることが出来、良い経験になりました。先生方、サポートについてくださった２年次生の先輩方、そしてあわら市。ありがとうございました！
From June 1st to the 2nd, the first-year students of Global Tourism Studies Department went to Awara Onsen in Fukui prefecture. On the first day, we parted into some groups and did a field survey after we arrived. We visited inside the hotel which we can’t see usually and heard about the rise of foreigners at a tourist information center. We heard a lot of stories for each group. Also, there were many rice fields around the hotels. The scenery with the sunset was so dramatic. After we ate dinner, each group made a presentation in front of the Mayor of Awara City about the result of the field work research we conducted at Fushimi Inari Taisya in April. Every group made an appealing presentation by making unique quizzes or interesting videos. After that, some students went to hot springs, other people went for a walk in town. We all had a fun time.
On the next day, we visited Toujinbou. Toujinbou is a famous cliff registered as a national natural monument in Fukui. It faces the Sea of Japan, and the surging waves were powerful. After Toujinbou, we then enjoyed attractions and BBQ at an amusement park called Sibamasa World. Sibamasa World is run by a company which grows and sells turf. As it has big swimming pools, many families with children come to the place in summer. After the barbecue lunch, the Head of the Awara City Tourism Association came to listen to the result of our fieldwork in Awara. We presented both good and bad points about tourism in Awara. There were some points to improve for the future, but we finished our two-day program safely. It was a good experience for us. Thank you, teachers and second-grade students, for supporting us, and last but not least much gratitude goes to Awara city!

食べ物は特にないけれど、ビール

このようにお答えいただきました。2の学生のうちにしておいたほうがいいことについては、外国語大学の学生は日本よりも海外旅行に目を向けがちですが、海外よりも先に日本をより知らなければならないと思いました。また、4の好きな言葉については、「ご縁」はとても京都らしく、地域や老舗、お祭りなどのつながりはこの「ご縁」というものが中心になっているのではないかと考えました。これから村山先生に伺ったお話を忘れずに今後の学生生活を送っていきたいです。

"Goenn," or relation or connection (There is no adequate English word for “goenn”)

I was able to get these answers. About the things students should do, Gaidai students tend to look toward foreign countries. However, as Prof. Murayama says, I think we should look toward Japan before foreign countries. Also, about his favorite word, the word “goenn”seems very Kyoto-like, and I think the idea of "goenn" is very important in the community of Kyoto with old stores and festivals. I would like to spend my student life remembering what Prof. Murayama told me through this interview.

こんにちは。グローバル観光学科教員の南です。
国際貢献学部では、学部カリキュラムの中心を担う「Community Engagement（コミュニティエンゲージメント）」というプログラムがあり、2年次生の秋学期から、学生たちは国内外のコミュニティ（地域社会）を活動の場に５週間学びます。
その準備をするための授業として、コミュニティ・エンゲージメント・ワークショップ(CEW)という授業があり、グローバル観光学科２年次生対象のCEW IIは７つのクラスに分かれ、ベトナム、グアム、オーストラリア、マレーシア、京都、城崎、長野、越前、京丹後での活動の準備をおこなっています。
私が担当する5月28日（火）のCEW IIの授業では、越前から若手農業士の井上高宏さんをお招きしました。今週末、井上さんの田んぼで開催する「Organic米の田植え体験in古熊谷」に向け、彼がなぜ農業をはじめたのか、日本の農業問題、無農薬米作りにともなう1年のハードな作業、その苦労にみあう秋の収穫の喜び、そして古熊谷の里山をとりまくさまざまな動きをわかりやすく話してもらいました。
先週までの授業で、熊谷でのフィールドミュージアム活動の構想や中山間地の農業の課題などの基礎知識を話していたこともあって、学生諸君は大変熱心に聞いてくれました。質問も大変面白くあっという間の100分。井上さんにも大変喜んでいただきました。さあ、いよいよ本番です。
さて、井上さんから学生諸君への質問。「皆さん方の勉強や活動がどのように国際貢献に結びつくのでしょうか？」とのこと。痛。
Hello everyone! My name is Hiroshi Minami. I am a faculty member at the Department of Global Tourism Studies.
As you know, the Faculty of Global Engagement has off-campus programs called "Community Engagement" programs for which all 2nd-year students spend their 5 weeks in overseas or domestic destination communities (Vietnam, Guam, Australia, Malaysia, Kyoto, Kinosaki, Nagano, Echizen, and Kyo-tango).
Our 2nd-year GT students have been preparing themselves for their community engagement programs in a class called "Community Engagement Workshop II." I am in charge of the Echizen CE program, and last Tuesday(May 28th), my class had a young agricultural professional as guest speaker from Echizen-cho, Fukui Prefecture. His name is Takahiro Inoue, and he is going to host an organic rice planting event in Echizen this weekend. He talked to our students about why he stepped in the field of agriculture, agricultural issues found in Japan, the seasonal schedule of growing organic rice, and the joy of the autumn harvest and so on.
As I lectured the related themes in the previous week, students were very attentive to Inoue-san's talk. After all the stimulating contents of the 100-minute class time, Inoue-san asked the students, "How does your field study lead to international contribution or global engagement? That's a good question, indeed!

His name is Takahiro Inoue, and he is going to host an organic rice planting event in Echizen this weekend.
