皆さん、こんにちは。グローバル観光学科2年次生の吉田琳香です。春学期が始まり1ヶ月経とうとしていますが、授業やサークル活動には慣れてきましたか？今回は大阪中之島美術館で開催されている「デザインに恋したアート♡アートに嫉妬したデザイン」を観に行って来ましたので紹介します。
さて、この展覧会では、デザインとアートの境界線に着目しテーマとしています。デザインの要素が含まれたアート作品や、アート的要素を持ったデザイン作品が展示されており、一つの作品に対して、デザインかアートかという視点で捉えることができます。また、デザインかアートかデバイスで投票できるシステムがあり、最後に来場者の投票結果を見ることができます。このような参加型の鑑賞は初めてでしたが、他の来場者の意見から作品に対する見方を広げることができました。
実際に一つの作品に対して、デザインかアートかという視点で見ていくのは面白かったです。例えば、シンプルなデザインの椅子が展示されていた場合、それがデザインなのか、アートなのか、どちらの視点でも楽しむことができます。また、逆にアート的な絵画が展示されていた場合、それがデザイン的要素を持っているのか、どちらの視点でも考えることができます。こういった切り口で作品を見ることで、普段とは違う視点から鑑賞することができました。
また、中之島美術館１階にあるHAYというインテリアプロダクトを扱っているお店があります。そこで、この展覧会で得た、デザインかアートかという視点を持ちながら家具や雑貨を眺めるとより楽しいと思います。

I would like to introduce to you an exhibition I went to see at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka, titled Art in Love with Design ♡ Design Envious of Art.
The theme of this exhibition focuses on the borderline between design and art. The exhibition displays artworks and design works with artistic elements, inviting visitors to consider whether each piece is art or design. There is also a system that allows visitors to vote on whether the work is design or art using their smartphones, etc., and at the end of the exhibition, visitors can see the results of their votes. This was the first time I had taken part in this type of participatory viewing, and I broadened my view of the artwork through the opinions of other visitors.
It was interesting to actually look at the pieces on display from the perspective of design or art. For example, if a chair with a simple design is shown as an exhibit, you can enjoy it from either perspective, be it design or art. On the other hand, if a painting is on display, you can consider whether it has design elements from that perspective. By looking at these works from multiple perspectives, I was able to appreciate them from a different point of view.
There is also a store on the first floor of the Nakanoshima Art Museum called HAY that sells interior products. It was more enjoyable to look at the furniture and products on sale from the perspectives I gained from this exhibition. The Art in Love with Design ♡ Design Envious of Art exhibition will be available for viewing at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka until June 18, so why not visit during Golden Week?

みなさん、こんにちは！グローバル観光学科1年次生の岩本茉子です。桜の花もだんだんと色づき、お出かけをするのが楽しくなる季節となってきましたね。また、明日からは4月が始まり、いよいよ新学期を迎えます。今年度も実りある1年になりますよう頑張っていきましょう！
さて、3月20日に京都外国語大学では卒業式が行われました。ご卒業された4年次生の皆様、おめでとうございます！
皆様にとって、京都外国語大学はどのような場所となったでしょうか。新しい出会いや挑戦、ワクワクしたこと、嬉しかったこと、悔しかったこと…。数えきれない思い出がこの場所で築かれたことと思います。そして、その出来事はきっとかけがいのないものとなったことでしょう。
また、私たち在学生にとっても先輩方はとても大きな存在でした。それは言葉では伝えきれない程の尊敬と感謝の気持ちで溢れています。何事に対しても一生懸命に取り組み、挑戦をし続けるお姿には毎回、刺激をもらいました。時には私たちが悩んだ時に話を聞いてくださり、アドバイスをくださったこともありました。それらは今の私たちへと繋がっており、これからの学生生活の中でも活かしていけるように頑張っていきたいと思います。いつも私たちの前を歩み、手を差し伸べてくださりありがとうございました！

Hello, everyone! My name is Mako Iwamoto, and I am a freshman in the Department of Global Tourism. With cherry trees gradually blooming and warm weather approaching, I am excited to go out and enjoy the season. In the meantime, our new academic year will start from tomorrow, April 1st.
I am writing today to congratulate all fourth-year students who have graduated from Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. What kind of place has KUFS become for you? I am sure you have countless memories of this school, such as new experiences, challenges, excitement, frustration, and more. These experiences are precious and will stay with you for a lifetime.
You were a large presence for students currently enrolled, and we have the utmost respect and gratitude for you. Your hard work and perseverance were an inspiration to us. You listened to our concerns and provided valuable advice, which helped shape who we are today. We will do our best to make use of these experiences in our university life. Thank you for leading the way!

みなさん、こんにちは。グローバル観光学科4年次生の藤松桃葉です。早いものでもうすぐ卒業します。1年次生の秋学期から約３年半の間、学生広報隊として学科ブログを書かせていただきました。今回は最後のブログ執筆になるので、大学４年間のまとめとして書きたいと思います。
私は、ENJOY KYOTOやHear Me Okinawaなど様々な活動に参加してきました。2020年度秋学期には国際貢献学部の必修プログラムであるCommunity Engagement Program（CEP）で越前を選択しました。そこでの活動がきっかけとなり、農業・農村の研究をしたい、自分で畑をやってみたいと思うようになりました。そして、2021年度春から「大原わくわくする畑プロジェクト」を開始しました。大原わくわくする畑プロジェクトについては、これまで何度も学科ブログを通して発信させていただいたので、まだ読んでいない方は読んでみてください。このプロジェクトが始まったきっかけの詳細も書いています。
3年次生からは南先生のゼミに所属し、越前町熊谷区と大原を主なフィールドとして、研究してきました。研究テーマは「環境保全型農業を中核とした持続可能な農村地域づくり」です。調べれば調べるほど、現地でお話を聞けば聞くほど、数多くの課題があることが明らかになりました。「なぜ」このような課題が生まれているのか。南先生のご指導の下、「なぜ」を突き詰め、持続可能な農村地域づくりには何が必要なのかを考えた結果、必要条件のひとつは「多様なアクター」であるという結論にたどり着きました。
そこで、2022年春に、中間支援任意団体 わくわくする農とまちづくり「にじいろファーム」を立ち上げました。農業を通して豊かなまちづくりをすることを目標として、南先生はじめ多くの方々に支えられて今日まで活動してきました。大原や越前で収穫した野菜を配布し、越前で育てたお米「田んぼの姫」を外大祭で販売させていただくなど、大学関係者のみなさまにも多くのご協力・ご支援をいただきました。
ＣＥＰ越前をきっかけとして、こういった活動を続ける中で、私は卒業後にやりたいことを見つけました。それは、「にじいろファーム」として活動を続けていくことです。現在フィールドにしている越前町熊谷区や大原、嵐山といった地域の課題を、農業を通して仲間と楽しく解決したいと思っています。そして、数年後には拠点を地元大分に移し、大分のまちづくりにも取り組んでいきたいと考えています。
地元でまちづくり活動をしたいという夢は、入学時にも持っていました。4年間の大学生活を通して課題を見つけ、やりたいことが具体的になりました。これも、ご指導、温かいご支援をいただき、様々なチャンスを与えてくださった先生方のおかげです。また、一緒に活動してくれた仲間たちのおかげでここまで活動を続けることができました。ありがとうございました。
そして最後になりましたが、学科ブログの取りまとめをしてくださっている河上先生、大変お世話になりました。活動を日本語と英語で発信する場を提供してくださったこと、感謝しております。ここで培った文章力や英語で書く力を生かして今後も活動を発信していきたいと思います。今後も私たちの活動を応援し、参加していただけると嬉しいです。よろしくお願いいたします。4年間ありがとうございました。

Hello! My name is Momoha Fujimatsu and I am in my senior year at the Department of Global Tourism Studies. Time has passed quickly and I'm about to graduate. I have been writing the department blog as part of the PR team for 3 and half years, since the fall term of my first year. This is my last post, so I would like to write it as a summary of my 4 years at university.
I have participated in various activities such as ENJOY KYOTO and Hear Me Okinawa. In the fall semester of the 2020 academic year, I chose Echizen for the Community Engagement Program (CEP), a compulsory program of the Faculty of Global Engagement. The program led me to want to study agriculture and rural areas, and to try my own farming. Then, in the spring of 2021, we launched the "OharaWakuWaku-Suru-Hatake project." I have posted about the WakuWaku-Suru-Hatake project many times through the department's blog, so if you haven't read it yet, please have a look. It also contains details of how this project started.
Since my junior year, I have been a member of Professor Minami's seminar and I have been researching mainly in Kumadan, Echizen Town and Ohara. My research theme is "Sustainable rural community development with environmental conservation agriculture at its core." The more I researched and the more I listened to the stories of the local people, the more it became clear to me that there were many issues. "Why" are these issues happening? Under the guidance of Professor Minami, I investigated the "why" and considered what is necessary to create sustainable rural areas, and as a result I concluded that one of the necessary conditions is "diverse actors".
Therefore, in the spring of 2022, we launched the intermediary organization "Nijiiro Farm". With the goal of creating an affluent town through agriculture, we have been working to this day with the support of Professor Minami and many other people. We distributed vegetables harvested in Ohara and Echizen, sold the rice "Tanbo-no-Hime" grown in Echizen at the Gaidai Festival, and received a lot of cooperation and support from university officials.
Thanks to the CEP Echizen I realised what I wanted to do after graduation. That is to continue our activities as "Nijiiro Farm". Through agriculture I would like to solve the problems of fields such as Kumadan in Echizen Town, Ohara, and Arashiyama. In a few years, I would like to move our base to our hometown of Oita and work on town planning for Oita.
I had a dream of doing town planning activities in my hometown when I entered the school. Through my four years at university, I found challenges and became more specific about what I wanted to do. This is also thanks to the professors who gave me guidance, warm support, and various opportunities. Also, thanks to my friends who worked with me I was able to continue my activities. I am very grateful.
Finally, Professor Kawakami, who is organizing the department's blog, was very helpful. We are grateful for having a place to communicate our activities in Japanese and in English. I would like to make use of the writing skills that I have cultivated here to continue to distribute information about my activities in the future. We hope that you will continue to support and participate in our activities.

皆さん、こんにちはグローバル観光学科2年次生の橋本永爾です。今回は私の一番好きな映画「タイタニック」が２５周年記念として特別に公開されたので観に行ってきました。ですが、このブログが掲載される頃には公開期間が過ぎてしまい観ることができなくなってしまっているのでとても残念です。今回の映画紹介はがっつりネタバレありで紹介します。
さて、この「タイタニック：ジェームズ・キャメロン25周年3Dリマスター」は1997年12月20日に公開されたジェームズ・キャメロン監督の映画をもう一度公開するというもので1912年4月15日に発生した実際の事故を舞台に映像化された作品です。ではまずタイタニックとは何かについて説明しましょう。
タイタニック号とは1900年代初頭当時最大規模の客船としてイギリスの「ホワイト・スター・ライン(White Star Line)社」により建造された豪華客船です。この豪華客船は当時「ホワイト・スター・ライン社」社長のブルース・イズメイ氏は、「神でもこの船を沈没させることができない」と豪語していました。そのせいで乗客も安心しきってしまい、より被害が拡大したようなのです。
ここからは映画の紹介と感想を話します。この映画は一言で表すとロミオとジュリエットです。貴族の生活を送るなかで感じた閉塞感から逃げ出したいと思っているケイト・ウィンスレット演じるローズと貧乏で根無し草だが、その人生に対し不満もない自由なレオナルド・ディカプリオ演じるジャックとの出会いと別れを描いた作品です。
二人の純愛の描写が特に最高でこんな恋愛をしてみたいと本気で思えます。また、私は蒸気機関などのメカやギミックが大好きなので、レトロな小物から1900年代初頭の雰囲気が感じられてすごく楽しい気分になりました。スチームエンジンの発進などの合図を出すための機械や、プロペラスクリューを回すためのグリスで塗りたくられた何トンもするだろう鉄の塊が動き出すシーンはメカオタクとしてグッとくるものがありました。
この映画が名作になった理由は色々考えられますが、パニック系の映画でよくあるような主人公だけが生き残り続けるといったご都合主義がないこともその一つではないかと私は思います。この映画は1997年の映画とは思えない不朽の名作ですので、もし観に行ったことがない人がいれば一度でいいからサブスク等で見ることをお勧めします。

Film Introduction: TITANIC

Hello everyone, this is Eiji Hashimoto, a second-year student of the Department of Global Tourism. This time, my favorite movie "Titanic" was specially released to commemorate its 25th anniversary, so I went to see it. However, by the time this blog is published, the release period will have passed, and we won’t be able see it, which is very unfortunate. I will introduce this movie with a lot of spoilers.
Well, this "Titanic: James Cameron 25th Anniversary 3D Remaster" is a re-release of the movie directed by James Cameron and first released on December 20, 1997, based on the actual accident that occurred on April 15, 1912.
First, I will explain what the “TITANIC” is.
The Titanic is a luxury liner built by the British "White Star Line Co." as the largest cruise ship at the time in the early 1900s. Bruce Ismay, the president of White Star Line, boasted that “Even God could not sink this luxury liner”. Because of that, the passengers felt completely secured, and this seemed to increase the damage.
From here, I will introduce the movie and share my impressions. In a nutshell, this movie is Romeo and Juliet. It depicts the meeting and parting of Rose, played by Kate Winslet, who lives an aristocratic life and wants to escape, and Jack, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who is poor and rootless but free and has no complaints about his life. The depiction of the pure love between the two is so great that you really want to try this kind of romance.
Also, I love steam engines and other mechanics and gimmicks, and the retro accessories made me feel like I was in the early 1900s. As a mecha geek, there was something that really touched me when I saw the machine for giving commands such as starting the steam engine and the mass of iron covered with grease for turning the propeller screw.
In addition, I think that this movie became a masterpiece because there is no opportunism such as keeping the main character alive, which is common in panic movies. This movie is a timeless classic, you will not believe it’s a 1997 movie, so if you have never seen it, I strongly recommend watching it!

さて、この「タイタニック：ジェームズ・キャメロン25周年3Dリマスター」は1997年12月20日に公開されたジェームズ・キャメロン監督の映画をもう一度公開するというもので1912年4月15日に発生した実際の事故を舞台に映像化された作品です。ではまずタイタニックとは何かについて説明しましょう。
タイタニック号とは1900年代初頭当時最大規模の客船としてイギリスの「ホワイト・スター・ライン(White Star Line)社」により建造された豪華客船です。この豪華客船は当時「ホワイト・スター・ライン社」社長のブルース・イズメイ氏は、「神でもこの船を沈没させることができない」と豪語していました。そのせいで乗客も安心しきってしまい、より被害が拡大したようなのです。
ここからは映画の紹介と感想を話します。この映画は一言で表すとロミオとジュリエットです。貴族の生活を送るなかで感じた閉塞感から逃げ出したいと思っているケイト・ウィンスレット演じるローズと貧乏で根無し草だが、その人生に対し不満もない自由なレオナルド・ディカプリオ演じるジャックとの出会いと別れを描いた作品です。
二人の純愛の描写が特に最高でこんな恋愛をしてみたいと本気で思えます。また、私は蒸気機関などのメカやギミックが大好きなので、レトロな小物から1900年代初頭の雰囲気が感じられてすごく楽しい気分になりました。スチームエンジンの発進などの合図を出すための機械や、プロペラスクリューを回すためのグリスで塗りたくられた何トンもするだろう鉄の塊が動き出すシーンはメカオタクとしてグッとくるものがありました。
この映画が名作になった理由は色々考えられますが、パニック系の映画でよくあるような主人公だけが生き残り続けるといったご都合主義がないこともその一つではないかと私は思います。この映画は1997年の映画とは思えない不朽の名作ですので、もし観に行ったことがない人がいれば一度でいいからサブスク等で見ることをお勧めします。

初めまして、グローバル観光学科一年次生のフェン・ティ・リーです。皆さんは年末年始ををどう過ごしましたか？家族や大切な人と一緒に過ごしましたか？今日は私が日本で過ごしたクリスマスの思い出を振り返ってみたいと思います。
私が去年神戸にいた時、クリスマスにアルバイトをしました。その時、私が働いたコンビニエンスストアではケーキとチキンを販売するキャンペーンを行いました。店長と店員さんが寒い天気にも関わらず、お店の外でお客さんに商品をおすすめするために声をかけました。このアルバイトのために私はクリスマスに遊びに行けませんでしたが、ケーキとフライドチキンを持つお客さんの姿を見て、クリスマスを感じ、幸せな気分になりました。
私の中で、クリスマスは「愛する人」すなわち自分にとって大切な人に会うための日です。今年も、私は年末年始を日本で過ごすこととなり、私の国、ベトナムにいる家族に会えませんでした。そこで、その代わりに、日本にいる「愛する人」に会おうと思いました。そして、私にとって大切な京都で出会った友達とアルバイト先の同僚との約束をたくさん計画しました。また、昨年まで暮らしていた神戸に住む「愛する人」に会いにいくことも誰にも言わずに密かに計画しました。一日目に去年みたいに盛り上がるクリスマスのキャンペーンがあることを期待して私が以前アルバイトをしたお店に行ってみましたが、スタッフが変わってしまい、誰にも会えませんでした。二日目にまたお店に行くことにしました。すると、前の同僚の皆さんに会えて、一緒に飲みに行きました。事前に約束もせずに、突然にお店に帰りましたが、以前の同僚に会うことができました。夜中まで昔の記憶をたどりながら話し、思い出が甦りました。今年も忘れられないクリスマスになりました。
「どんな忙しくても、どんな遠いところにいても、愛する人に会いに帰ること」、それがクリスマスの意味だと思います。それはベトナムの年末の意味でもあります。「生き急ぐ」ことが求められる現代の社会において、人との出会いを大事にするのは大切なことではないのでしょうか。そのため、日本にいるうちに、色々な思い出を大事にしようと思います。皆さんも毎日を楽しんで、大切な人と色々な思い出をつくるようにしてくださいね。今年も良い1年になりますように！
Hello there! My name is Huynh Thi Ly and I am a freshman majoring in Global Tourism. Another year has gone by in the blink of an eye and we had a Christmas season again. I hope your Christmas was wonderful!
Last year, when I was in Kobe, I had a part-time job on Christmas Day. That day we sold cakes and fried chicken at the store where I worked. Despite the cold weather, the manager and staff went outside the store to introduce the products to passers-by. Although I couldn't hang out with my friends on Christmas day, I felt happy when I saw the customers enjoying our cakes and fried chicken. It was a very meaningful and unforgettable day for me, and I am sure I will remember it as one of the most beautiful moments of my youth.
In my mind, Christmas is a day for spending time with loved ones. Because I was living abroad, I couldn't spend the day with my family. Instead, I arranged to meet up with my friends in Kyoto. I especially wanted to visit my former colleagues from the store where I worked the previous year. On the first day I returned to Kobe, I went to the store, but the staff had changed and I didn't see any of my old co-workers. The next day, I decided to go to the store again and fortunately, I ran into my old colleagues. We went out for drinks together and talked until midnight. It was another unforgettable day in my life.
"No matter how busy you are, no matter how far you are from your loved ones, try your best to spend time with them." I think that's the true meaning of Christmas and also the end of the year in Vietnam. In a modern society where life is rushing by, the time you spend with your loved ones is very precious. No matter where I am, I will try my best to enjoy my time with my loved ones. I hope you will do the same and create unforgettable memories with your friends and family. Happy New Year!
